Message about RFS Poster Session at AMCLC

Dear ACR Chapter Presidents and Executives,

This email is to inform you about the 3rd annual ACR Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) Poster session.  The poster session will be held in conjunction with the ACR’s Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference (AMCLC) in Washington D.C. this spring, April 21-25.  The RFS poster session is an excellent opportunity for residents to get involved in the ACR early in their career.  Getting radiologists involved early increases the chances that trainees will become active, life-long members of the ACR and their respective state chapters.

The ACR-RFS poster session also provides an additional way to attend the AMCLC for residents and fellows who are not selected to attend as a state chapter representative.  Unfortunately, the RFS cannot sponsor residents to attend the meeting and present at the poster session.  However, if your state chapter would like to encourage residents to submit an abstract and, if accepted, provide financial assistance for their airfare and hotel, this would be a great way for your chapter to invest in the future of radiology.

Did you know that resident and fellow attendance at the AMCLC reached 248 last year, breaking the previous record of 225? As the College continues to counter misguided legislation and health policy that will hinder patient care and decrease availability of medical imaging, it is vital that we continue to demonstrate the value of the ACR to our youngest members.  There is strength in numbers and sending residents to the AMCLC is a great way to get trainees involved in the ACR and its vital activities.

Residents may submit up to 2 abstracts; categories of research include the following: Advocacy and Government Relations, Economics and Health Policy, Clinical Research, Education (Including Case-Based Posters), and Quality and Safety.  Participants will be able to submit their poster electronically in addition to the traditional printed poster, a new feature for 2012.  These electronic posters will be available for viewing on the ACR AMCLC web portal (http://amclc.acr.org).

More information can be found on the ACR-RFS website .  Abstracts will be accepted from now through February 1st.  Thank you so much for your time and please pass this information along to the residents and fellows in your state.

If you have any questions about this e-mail, the RFS, or the ACR AMCLC, please contact ACR staff Trina Madison at tmadison@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, extension 4998.

Sincerely,

The ACR-RFS Executive Committee
